Health Minister Nadine Doris has tested positive for COVID-19 and has isolated herself.
She is the first UK member to be diagnosed with COVID-19, as the virus spread further on Tuesday.
"I can confirm that I have been diagnosed with the Coronavirus," Ms. Doris, the Minister responsible for patient safety, said in a statement.
“Once I was told, I took all the recommended precautions and have been isolating myself at home.”
"Public Health England (PHE) has begun to search for detailed contacts, while the department and our Parliamentary Office are closely following their advice.
“I want to thank PHE and the great NHS staff for providing advice and support.”
The officials are reported to be trying to track every person she met after he went to a reception with the prime minister the day before her illness.
